Login to Cecil 7.0

To log on to Cecil 7.0 you will need your Unique Public Identifier (UPI) and your university ONElogin password. This is the same as what you use to log onto Student Services Online (SSO), Student Email, computers at Information Commons (under EC domain) and for accessing Library database from outside of the University.



Login to Cecil 7.0

  1. Click here for Cecil 7.0.

  2. You will need to use your NetID/UPI and your NetAccount Password.  
    If you are unsure of these please contact the IC Helpdesk located at Information Commons.

  3. Once you have acquired this information and logged into Cecil 7.0 you will be presented with a Welcome to Cecil screen.

Note: Once you have logged in, if your session remains idle for 60 minutes, instead of timing you out you will be presented with a pop-up box stating 'Your Session will expire in 5 minutes'. By clicking on the OK button within 5 minutes you will automatically renew your session and a pop-up will appear, stating 'Your session was renewed'.


NetAccount Password / ONE Logon Password


You should have used your NetAccount Password, if you had enrolled through SSO. You can also use the same password to log onto: Cecil, Student Email, Ezy Proxy (to access University resources off and on campus via the internet, e.g. Learn Databases) and various computers around campus under the EC domain.

Your Courses on Cecil


After you have enrolled on SSO, your courses will come through to Cecil. Cecil does an update from SSO once in every few hours. If you have just swapped any courses, it would come through during our next update from SSO. So it depends on when you have made changes to your course enrolment. If you have changed campuses, SSO will send an update to Cecil overnight.




System Requirements & Browser Settings


  • Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari

  • Cookies and Javascript enabled

  • Minimum 1024 x 768 recommended



Browser Settings:


  1. Both http://cecil.auckland.ac.nz and https://cecil.auckland.ac.nz need to be added to the Trusted Sites.

  2. Javascript needs to be enabled. (Please visit www.java.com for downloads)

  3. Cookies need to be enabled.



To check your cookie settings: For Internet Explorer version 6.0 or higher:

    1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.

    2. Click on Privacy tab at the top.

    3. Click on the Advanced button

    4. In the Advanced Privacy Settings window, tick the Override automatic cookie handling checkbox.

    5. Select to Accept both the First and Third-Party cookies.

    6. And tick the checkbox next to the option to Always allow session cookies.

    7. Click OK and then click Apply.

    8. Restart Microsoft Internet Explorer.


To Delete existing data/cookies from Internet Explorer version 8.0:


   1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.
2. Under the General tab, under the Browsing History section, click on the Delete... button.
3. Select the options you wish to delete and click on the Delete button.

   4. Click OK to close the Internet Options Window.



Temporary Internet Options (so that you are not using old stored webpages) - Internet Explorer version 8.0:


    1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options.

    2. Click on the General tab, under the Browsing History section, click on the Settings button.

    3. Make sure that Check for newer version of stored pages is set to Every time I visit the webpage. Click OK.

    4. Click on the Delete... button and make sure Temporary Internet Files and History are ticked.

    5. Click Cancel.

    6. Click OK to close the Internet Options Window.
